What is JAMB Subject Combination for Psychology?

Psychology is studied in two faculties namely: Arts and Social Sciences. The subject combination for the faculty of Art/Humanities is English Language(*), Government and any other two Arts and Science subjects.

For the faculty of Social/Management Sciences, the subject combination is the English Language(*), and any three subjects from Arts or Social Science.

O’ Level Requirements for Psychology

For faculty of Art/Humanities candidates must have five SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any two relevant subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences as specified by the institution.

For the Faculty of Social/Management Sciences, five SSC credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. A pass in Mathematics is needed.

Direct Entry Requirements for Psychology

For the Faculty of Social/Management Sciences two ‘A’ level passes including Government or History.

The few Universities that offer Psychology in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities do not accept direct entry.

What Subject Do I Need to Study Psychology?

For some universities, you’ll need to have studied at least one science or maths-based subject at A-level (this includes psychology, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geography, economics, statistics and computing).

Normally, general studies or critical thinking subjects are not accepted.
