Give Me Tomorrow

by Finayon

Some people are not rooted,
Yet they blossom very quickly.
Some others are so rooted,
But they don’t blossom as popular demand –
They don’t try to fit in.
They are just different.
Why fit in anyway?
The world is so crowded already.
No human being is on planet earth by mistake.
Everybody has an assignment here.

There is a specific reason why each one of them came.
It is wisdom to align with the purpose for which the maker of all human beings made you.
Because one day, He will ask you –
How did you manage all the talents and gifts you were given?
A lot of people don’t know why they are on earth,
And they don’t care to find out.
” Why am I here?

When you say,
“Nelson Mandela”
We know you are talking about
A human activist,
A freedom fighter.
When you say,
“Mohammed Ali”
You think boxing.
When you say,
“Mahatma Gandhi”
You think,
Freedom fighter,
Human activist,
Father of India.
When you say,
“Billy Graham”
You think,
The preacher of the gospel.
When you say,
“Mother Theresa”
You think,
Humanitarian.
When you say,
“Martin Luther King Jr.”
You think,
Voice of Freedom,
courage, and audacity.
And the lists go on and on.

Everybody must ask,
Why am I here?
Nobody came by accident,
There is a specific assignment for everybody.
Many people are comparing themselves with themselves because they don’t know why they are here.
Men and women who know why they are here,
They stand out from the crowd.
They are different.
They don’t try to fit in.

So don’t laugh at me now,
When I’m still an amateur.
Give me tomorrow.
Tomorrow is heavy,
Tomorrow is in the womb,
Yesterday is in the tomb,
So give me tomorrow.
I may not look like my bright future now,
But give me tomorrow.
I may not be wearing what I really want to wear now,
But give me tomorrow.
I may be borrowing now to pay my rent,
Just give me tomorrow.
Tomorrow is in the future,
And tomorrow also begins for me now!

Don’t think you are better than me,
Because of your fat bank account,
Or because you ride what I’m not riding now.
Give me tomorrow.
Tomorrow is pregnant,
I’m not in a hurry.
I don’t want to come out before my time,
I don’t want a stillbirth.
Give me tomorrow!
Tomorrow is in the process,
Tomorrow is coming.

Wisdom is profitable to guide.
If you lack it, you can abort tomorrow before it’s time.
There are haters and slanderers.
That’s why I don’t joke with men of vision,
Men who know where they are headed.
That’s why I don’t joke with those who God has brought my way,
Those who believe in my tomorrow, today.
I don’t care about your religion, tribe, color, race, or language.
Whether you are from California or you are from Ojuelegba.
Just give me tomorrow!

Therefore I refuse to believe I’m nobody.
I don’t care if I have a master’s degree or not,
I refuse to take no for mediocrity.
I refuse to settle for less.
I refuse to remain insignificant.
I refuse to come to this world and do what everybody is doing,
Going in everybody’s direction.
I refuse to judge anybody,
‘Cos, I have my issues.
I refuse to fake anything,
‘Cos, I am authentic!
Originality is my name.
I can’t be replicated or replaced by anyone else.
I am exceptional!

My DNA,
Is nowhere else in the whole wide world.
I’m different.
Therefore, I refuse to be belittled.
I refuse to not have a vision.
I refuse to walk aimlessly.
I refuse.
I may not be what I want to be yet…,
Just give me tomorrow!
