for the joy we awaited has come
Weep not Nigeria
for justice seems right now
Weep not Nigeria
for democracy, no more drives us crazy
Weep not Nigeria
for the day is bright so also our smiles
Weep not Nigeria
for our faith is strong
though our sights are dim
Weep not Nigeria
for our cries are now smiles
there are no more cracks
Weep not Nigeria
for at 61, we are still sixteen
Weep not Nigeria
for the change has come
Weep not Nigeria
for we are still young and vibrant
Weep not Nigeria
for now, we know, and we are sure
that the giant lives within
Weep not Nigeria
Be strong and of good courage
Wipe your tears
Don’t show your fears
It is time to shine
Gather and let’s celebrate!
