Eggs

by Chinyere Nwosu

Eggs is an acrostic poem. An acrostic is a poem in which certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase.

Eggs make rings to grace our meals each day,

Garden for new chicks that grow to lay,

Growing our bones and new flesh to keep,

Shining, radiating, and keeping life from the steep.

About The Poem

Eggs is an acrostic poem by Chinyere Enyim Nwosu. An acrostic is a poem in which certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. In this poem, the first letter in every line spells ‘Eggs”. The message of the poem is to remind us that eggs hold life – not just the life of the chick but the life cycle of the bird species. It also sustains other lives, like making meals for humans.
