Always Smile At Life

by Chinyere Nwosu

When the going gets tough,

The end seems not at sight,

When you aren’t making a move,

And static appears your world;

Just give a smile.

When your ego is beaten,

Your face downcast,

When it seems you can’t achieve anything else,

And all trying hope is lost,

Stop, try to smile.

When insulted,

Hot with anger,

When you can’t have your way,

And your wish assailed,

Imagine a smiling face.

When bent with labour,

Pains all over you,

When the task is heavy,

And you can’t give up, so just to survive,

Look up and smile.

When lost in passion,

Thoughts filled with a daydream of your love,

When you’ve lost all love;

And not noticed by any,

In your craving for love, spell SMILE.

When no one appears pleased in you,

In search of a listening ear,

When your friends are all gone,

And in loneliness, you are left,

You can sigh, but don’t forget to smile.

When life’s odds seem to multiply,

The world around you appears extinct,

Imagine a world free of sorrow,

An order free of strive,

Then you can smile.

Never call it quits,

When it is not over,

Unavoidable are times like these.

A course to smile,

Always comes last.
