The rapper started music officially during the Shaku Shaku wave of 2018 but failed to make it to the limelight with the trend.
Imole gained the attention of the media in late 2018 following the success of his cover of Kizz Daniel’s popular single “Fuck You.”
The media buzz generated by this cover attracted the attention of Naira Marley, who later brought him and other prospective signees of Marlian Music on stage for the Marlian Fest in 2019, a year he was officially signed into the label.
Mohbad released his first official single, “Komajensun” feat Naira Marley under Marlian Records in 2019, and that was the beginning of the late rapper’s progress in the music industry.

Personal Life and Controversy
Mohbad was a cool-headed and hardworking street-rapper whose personal life was a mixture of peace and conflict.
He wasn’t a man of controversy, but there are a couple of narratives about his involvement in activities not befitting of a gentleman.
Imole has always been a preacher of peace, except for his case with NDLEA in 2022.
In February 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested him, Zinoleesky, and four other people following their possession of illegal substances like MDMA and cannabis at their residence in Lekki, Lagos.
Some viral videos on social media showed NDLEA operatives breaking into the musicians’ residence in the Lekki district of Lagos State on the said day.
According to witnesses, the officials carried out the arrest without any search warrants and subjected the Marlian singers to inhuman violations.
The NDLEA officers were seen hitting the musician with clubs and shooting into the air, compelling them into waiting trucks.
Another incident occurred in October where a video of him shouting and alleging the Marlian Music beat him up.
That same day, October 5th, he announced his departure from Marlian Records, accusing Naira Marley of domestic violence.
What Killed MohBad?
Since the arrival of the news of the singer’s untimely death, there have been a couple of conflicting news on the cause of his death.
According to PulseNG, the singer died of ear infection. Another source claims he died of heart disease, which worsened following his usual overdose of hard drugs.
Some alleged he foresaw his death and had exchanged his soul for fame. Some have equally accused Naira Marley of being responsible for the rapper’s death.
Our team has refused to accept any of these claims, especially the last two, in that the two will never have any evidence, no matter how hard the investigation will be.
Mohbad was a great entertainer. He came, saw, conquered, but left too soon at 27. Our happiness at hqwords is that he has left a mark before leaving the world. Rest on, Imole.
