Alok Ikom Monoliths

Present around Alok, Ikom local government area of Cross River State, Nigeria. These monoliths are between 1 and 6 feet. They are numbered 300 in total and are laid out in 30 circles around Alok. Phallic in form and with beautiful inscriptions and carvings on some of them. They represent the very symbol of art. Although the carvings and write-ups on them are yet to be deciphered, linguists and researchers believe that this was a form of writing. Some people believe that it is some sort of visual communication in the early sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. A replica of the Ikom monolith is found at the British museum.

Kanji National Park

Kanji national park is a national park present in Niger and Kwara states of Nigeria. Established in 1978, it is divided into three major sectors.  The zugurma game reserve, the borgu game reserve and the kanji lake. The borgu sector is the only sector used for tourism as the zugurma sector has no access roads. The two sectors are divided by the kanji lake.

About 65 mammal species, 82 fish species in the kanji lake, 30 species of reptiles and amphibians and about 350 species of birds have been recorded in the park. The Zugurma sector has a less varied composition of flora and fauna when compared to the borgu sector.
